How Arkansas’s Diamond Mine Was Formed

Unlike traditional diamond mines found deep underground, the diamonds in Arkansas were brought to the surface by a rare volcanic eruption around 100 million years ago. This eruption carried diamonds from deep within the Earth's mantle up to the surface through a pipe of volcanic rock called lamproite.
